Jane Southall

JANE SOUTHALL, MD

Employment Law Specialist

Jane has considerable experience advising clients on the full range of employment matters. Her legal career spans back to the Citizens Advice bureau in Keighley and the Northern Complaint Aid Found in Bradford from 1998. From 2001, she worked for Peninsula Business Services at their Head Office in Manchester as a Managing Director and Employment Law Specialist for over 12 years. Over the last 16 years, she has amassed considerable experience advising clients on the full range of employment matters, regularly appearing at Employment Tribunals throughout the United Kingdom and advising clients on HR and Employment Tribunal matters, particularly discrimination claims, whistle blowing and redundancies and transfers of undertakings.  

She also has significant experience advising on complex disciplinary and grievance matters, negotiating and drafting contracts of employment and handling large commercial contractors. Her experience has led her to deal with both contentious and complex TUPE matters. These include a transfer or takeover of businesses, outsourcing and service provision changes. She also advises on the drafting of restrictive covenants, employee representation and trade union issues. She is an accomplished litigator and a robust employment law adviser.

SATPAL ROTH

Solicitor 

Satpal, Principal Solicitor-Advocate at Kher Solicitors (a trading name of DPP Law Limited. Authorised and Regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Number 598996) advises on Health & Safety and regulatory matters. Her background is in Criminal Law and she has undertaken advocacy as a Senior Crown Prosecutor. She has prosecuted for the Environment Agency.

Satpal advises corporate clients on health and safety matters, environmental, pollution and food safety issues. Satpal provides an impressive Road Traffic service, defending a full range of motoring offences from initial advice to representation at the court hearing. Having experience in the prosecution of motoring offences she is able to offer clients her expertise in the defence of such matters. Satpal was placed on the Attorney General’s List of Approved Prosecution Counsel in 2009 (List C.)

In 2012 Satpal was highly commended at The Association of Women Solicitors Awards 2012 and highly commended as a Woman Solicitor Managing a Small Practice.

Paul has in excess of 15 years’ experience of working within various industries such as the large scale commercial and residential construction sector, nuclear power stations, retail, utilities, hospitals and schools.

Paul has over 10 years as a Safety Health & Environmental Manager, and during this time he has gained a solid understanding of the importance of ensuring your business is legally compliant.

More recently Paul has helped numerous businesses and contractors in providing a bespoke consultancy service and helping them achieve various H&S accreditations such as Constructionline, CHAS and Safecontractor by establishing their H&S management system.

As a Chartered health and safety consultant (CMIOSH), Chartered environmentalist (CEnv), and an Association of Project Safety CDM Registered Member (2015), he has the competence to provide a thorough, and practical consultancy services to help your company stay legally complaint.

MICHAELA EVANS

Legal Researcher

Michaela is an Aberystwyth University graduate, currently studying the BPTC at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is looking to secure a commercial/chancery pupillage with the view to practice at the Bar in England and Wales. 

Originally from Czech Republic, Michaela studied film and worked with film festivals, before moving on to study Translation Studies (English and Norwegian) at the Charles University in Prague. Her love for anything British brought her to England, where in the summer 2005 she started to work for her later to become husband. Swapping her Interpreter’s career for a life with the man she loved, she eventually relocated permanently to the UK and married amidst the Cambrian mountains, where they continue to live. 

Michaela has had the experience of working for the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales, as well as volunteering for Help4Lips, the Innocence Project and the CAB’s initiative Problem Solvers. She is a fluent Czech speaker, First Class Welsh graduate and can communicate in Slovak and French.

AMY HUCKLESBY

Legal Researcher

Amy is a Coventry University graduate, currently studying the BPTC full time at Manchester Metropolitan University. She is looking to secure an Employment pupillage with the view to practice at the Bar in England and Wales. 

Initially studying History and International Relations in the UK, Amy travelled to Lyon, France for a year to undertake the Erasmus programme. She was taught by one of five Interpol lawyers in French on International Human Rights Law, and also gained an understanding of the French legal system. 

Upon returning to the UK in 2013, she studied the Graduate Diploma in Law whereby she was part of the external mooting team, taking part in the the National Student Law Society Competition. She successfully won 8 rounds to get through to the semi-finals held in the Royal Court of Justice in London. Following this she applied to Manchester Metropolitan University for the BPTC, obtained a scholarship and became Vice-Chair of the Manchester Law School Law Society. 

Amy has extensive experience in employment law, with 5 years’ working experience in the field, and has represented clients on a pro-bono basis from the negotiation stage to trial. She intends to undertake a Masters in Employment Law upon completion of her BPTC year.
